LAURA - ANNE

Full name Laura-Anne Gill, born on the 2nd January 1987 in Whitley Bay.

Since Laura could remember she had always wanted to be in the entertainment business.

At the age of 10 Laura joined a local theatre school specialising in Street Dance, Drama and Singing and continued to attend the school till the age of 15.

While there she performed in such shows as, ‘The Ultimate Children’s Tribute Show’ (1999), ‘Little Legends’ (2000) and ‘Mini Popstars’ (2001).

Then during 2002 Laura was cast as a main act on the infamous ‘Copycat Kids’, a show documented on ‘ITV’ .

All of the shows were performed the entire summer season of each year and included singing, dancing and comparing. Proving to be hard graft yet invaluable experience.

Meanwhile Laura continued to develop experience in other areas;

Various 'extras' work, dance, acting & singing performances and fashion shows for companies including ‘Toni and Guy’, ‘DKNY’ and ‘The Body Shop’.

Laura was learning fast the ways of the industry and more importantly… Where she wanted to be within it.

As a part of several agencies Laura was continually auditioning.

After being cast in the girl group ‘DNA’, Laura’s live skills began to improve, as did her knowledge and understanding of a recording studio.

Late 2002 saw Laura begin her involvement in contemporary dance at the area’s most prestigious performing arts college ‘Bispham’.

It was then that Laura made her first appearances at both ‘The Grand Theatre’ and ‘The Winter Gardens Opera House’, Blackpool.

2003 Laura began to establish herself as a Street- Dance and Singing teacher.

Before long Laura was auditioning for performance work all over the country.

After seeing an advert on T.V Laura went to an open audition for street dancers, intended for the ‘Trouble’ T.V show ‘Bump n Grind’ (2004).

As Laura was taking part in the competition she got to work alongside some of the best choreographers in the dance industry.

Laura turned out to be one of the finalists, and consequently received a years contract with the international agency ‘Vibes’.

Laura has since been working as a professional dancer working with artists such as, Geri Halliwell, George Micheal, Gwen Stefani and Kanye West, in addition to performing in shows such as the MTV Europe Music Awards, The Royal Variety Show, The Brit Awards.

During 2005/2006 Laura had been one third of girl group ‘XSS’, performing, writing and recording their first album and 3 videos.

In addition, lengthy promotional tours with Coolio (as featured on the first single), in Italy, France and Switzerland, including live performances on ‘Top of the Pops’ and ‘CD:Live’.

Laura has recently left the group due to management difficulties. She is now running “APPLESCRATCH” (www.applescratch.fusiveweb.co.uk), teaching various styles of dance and choreographing for many events alongside working on her solo career.
